New London ― A woman suffered “moderate injuries” Thursday after she crashed her car into a tree in a Shaw’s Cove parking lot.

Police and fire crews were called to Building 2 at Shaw’s Cove at 10:50 a.m.

The woman had blood on her neck when she was taken from the car and put on a stretcher to be transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. New London Deputy Fire Chief Mark Waters described her injuries as “moderate.”

The car, a white Hyundai sedan, had gone over a curb and into a tree. The right front bumper and headlight were damaged.

Waters said he didn’t know what had caused the crash. Police are investigating, he said.
