    Guilford Police Incident Report for Sept. 3 to 5

    The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for length and content.

    Monday, Sept. 3

    • No arrests were made.

    • A wallet found in New Haven was turned in at police headquarters, 400 Church St.

    • A problem involving a possible violation was reported at shellfish beds off Chaffinch Island, 8:18 a.m.

    • An officer shot a sick fox in the woods off the roadside, after responding to a report of a sick fox on the side of West Lake Avenue, 1100 block, 11:43 a.m.

    • Theft, planters stolen from front of business, 42 Water St.

    • A miscellaneous theft was reported at the town marina, Farmers Wharf Road.

    • A resident reported receiving harassing texts from an ex-boyfriend.

    • Noise complaint, youths revving truck with no exhaust in driveway, Durham Road, 5000 block, 5:57 p.m. The area was quiet when police arrived, not trucks observed.

    • Police checked into a report of youths drinking and trespassing on the docks at the town marina, Farmer’s Wharf Road, 9:50 p.m. Four individuals in their 30’s were located, admiring the boats.

    Tuesday, Sept. 4

    • A 32 year-old North Haven resident was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs or both.

    • A Long Hill Road resident reported a possible rabid fox under the porch of his home, 2300 block, 12:44 p.m.

    • An abandoned bicycle left against a telephone pole for three days was reported on Goose Lane.

    • A male was reported for peddling magazines without a permit, West Lake Avenue, 1000 block 6:22 p.m.

    • A male was reported for peddling without a permit, door-to-door, Clear Lake Road, 7:43 p.m.

    • A wallet was found on Water Street.

    Wednesday, Sept. 5

    • A 24 year-old Clinton resident was charged with second-degree breach of peace.

    • A 26 year-old Madison resident was charged with failure to drive in the proper lane, evading responsibility and third-degree criminal mischief.

    • Theft from auto, Bay Street, reported at 3:32 a.m.

    • Theft from auto, Mulberry Point Road, reported at 3:53 a.m.

    • Theft from auto, Norton Avenue, reported at 1:42 p.m.

    • Police assisted Branford police with identification of stolen items recovered at Guilford Gold and Silver, 115 State St.

    • Theft, bicycle taken overnight from outside residence, Little Meadow Road, 200 block.

    • Theft from auto, High Street, incident occurred overnight; reported at 4:23 p.m.

    • A resident reported his belief that a pack of coyotes is living in the rear yard at his property, Long Hill Road, 600 block.

    • Two males were reported for peddling without a permit, North Madison Road, 5:40 p.m.

    • A vehicle involved in damaging a mailbox and evading responsibility was reported on Durham Road, 2000 block, 9:05 p.m.

    • Family dispute, Durham Road, 9:38 p.m.

    From Aug. 30 through Sept. 5 Guilford Police Department received 265 calls for service. Police made nine arrests, investigated 11 motor vehicle accidents, issued 12 infractions, 44 written warnings and three verbal warnings.
