Victim of Norwich crash identified as Preston woman, 31

Norwich - Police on Wednesday identified the victim in a Tuesday fatal crash as 31-year-old Rosario DeJesus-Delgado.

DeJesus-Delgado of Preston died in a head-on collision on Laurel Hill Avenue. The crash also sent two children in her vehicle to The William Backus Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.

The accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. in the area of 659 Laurel Hill Ave.

DeJesus-Delgado was traveling south when, police said, she lost control and crossed the double yellow center line sideways, into the path of an oncoming northbound vehicle.

The unidentified operator of the northbound vehicle sustained minor injuries.

DeJesus-Delgado was pronounced dead at the scene. Laurel Hill Avenue was closed for about four hours during the investigation. It was not yet snowing at the time of the crash, and preliminary investigation revealed weather did not appear to be a factor.

The accident remains under investigation, and no charges are likely. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Officer Andre Rosedale at (860) 886-5561.
