    New London police arrest man after car, foot chase

    New London — A Jefferson Avenue man was arrested Wednesday on drug and vehicle charges after attempting to elude police.

    Antonio Cox, 29, of 365 Jefferson Ave. was charged with driving without a license, failure to obey a stop sign, failure to stay in established lane, evading responsibility, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school and interfering with an officer.

    According to a release, officers saw Cox, who was known to not have a driver's license, driving near Connecticut Avenue. When Cox spotted the officers, he attempted to drive away to avoid them, committing several driving violations and hitting another vehicle before attempting to flee on foot.

    Officers caught him after a brief foot chase. Police recovered nearly 2 ounces of marijuana packaged for street sale and $2,118.
