Norwich man sentenced again for distributing heroin

A Norwich man was sentenced Thursday to 48 months in prison and four years of supervised release for distributing heroin and for violating the conditions of supervised release, according to a news release from John Durham, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

Christian Caba, 32, was sentenced in New Haven by Chief U.S. District Judge Janet Hall.

Caba's supervised release came from a prior conviction for distributing heroin. He had been sentenced to 24 months in prison and four years of supervised release in June of 2015 and was released the following February, according to court documents.

The Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force - East made two controlled purchases of heroin from Caba in July and August of last year, the news release stated. He was arrested leaving a storage facility in Groton on Nov. 1, 2016.

He possessed 40 grams of heroin and 30 grams of cocaine, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. He has been detained since his arrest and pleaded guilty to the charges on Sept. 7.

The breakdown of his sentence is 30 months for distributing heroin and 18 months for violating the conditions of his release.
