New London — Police have obtained a warrant for the arrest of the man who allegedly stabbed 27-year-old Travon Brown to death Sunday afternoon.

Jerome Hudson, 28, is the accused. Records show police arrested Hudson later Sunday on unrelated charges. Those charges include first-degree violation of conditions of release, tampering with evidence, possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, operating a drug factory and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Held on a total of $250,000 in bonds, Hudson on Wednesday remained in state Department of Correction custody. Police said they’ll serve the new warrant, which is for the charge of murder, at New London Superior Court on “a date to be scheduled.”

Asked on Monday whether police had identified any suspects or taken anyone into custody in the stabbing investigation, Capt. Brian Wright said he couldn’t comment.

On Wednesday, the city police log book, supposedly updated after each arrest, contained no record of Hudson's Sunday arrest.

Police found Brown suffering from stab wounds about 2:30 p.m. Sunday in a house near Grand and Elm streets. Brown had sought assistance at 22 Grand St., but the residents there weren’t involved in the incident.

Crews took Brown to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The results of a post-mortem examination are pending.
