Police report suspicious incident at New London church

New London — New London police are asking for the public's help regarding a suspicious incident at a church on Friday.

During an evening service on Feb. 16 at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 60 Blackhall St., an unidentified white male entered the church and remained in the back, according to a news release.

When two church members approached him, he said, "I see you brought backup," the release said. He then left the church on foot up Blackhall Street toward Williams Street. Although no weapon was displayed or seen, it was reported that a noticeable "bulge" was observed in the area of the unidentified man's back belt line as he left, the release said.

The individual is described as 55 to 60 years old, about 6 feet tall, weighing 150 to 160 pounds, with short gray hair and a thin moustache. He wore a brown sweater and carried a blue coat.

Anyone with information about the incident or the man described is asked to contact the New London Police Department's Communications Center at (860) 447-5269, ext. 0. Anonymous information can be submitted via the New London Tips 411 system by texting NLPDTip plus the information to Tip411 (847411).
