Waterford — From now through June 3, the Waterford Police Department will devote extra resources to finding drivers who aren’t wearing seat belts or are speeding, intoxicated or distracted.

The ramped-up initiative is part of Click It or Ticket, an annual campaign spearheaded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In a news release, NHTSA said almost half of the 22,441 occupants who died in crashes in 2015 weren’t wearing seat belts.
