Groton _ Five people, including two children, were rescued from the waters off Bluff Point Coastal Reserve Sunday afternoon after their small sailboat capsized.
David Henry, a captain with TowBoat US, said two of the company’s locally-based boats responded to the call of people in the water about 2 p.m. along with East Lyme police boat which was on duty at New London’s Sailfest celebration.
He said they were able to pull the five, all of whom were wearing personal flotation devices, from the choppy waters about half-mile off shore. Henry said they appeared to be scared but not injured.
