East Lyme — Police are investigating the Tuesday morning burglaries of two Boston Post Road businesses.

Police said someone forced entry into il Pomod'Oro Restaurant & Pizzeria at 117 Boston Post Road about 4 a.m. That person entered through the back door and "targeted two registers," police said.

Police described the person as a 30-something white man with short hair who is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He was wearing a blue T-shirt and blue pants, both of which were paint stained. His laced-up black sneakers had white soles.

Someone then broke into Post Road Market at 217 Boston Post Road and took change from the register at 4:24 a.m. Police said the person used a small tool to manipulate security plates on the front door frame and lock.

Police don’t yet have evidence connecting the two incidents but are investigating them as related because of the time frame.

Anyone with information about the break-ins is asked to call Detective Mark Comeau at (860) 739-5900 and reference case No. 18-8833-OF.
