Ledyard — Police on Saturday charged a 26-year-old motorcyclist with going 87 mph in a 35-mph zone, then leading officers on a chase through town.

Police said Caitlin M. Brown, of 425 Old Jewett City Road, Preston, was traveling north on state Route 12 when an officer clocked her at 87 mph about 1:22 a.m.

Instead of pulling over, police said Brown sped up and drove on to state Route 2A, where she ignored a second officer and passed vehicles in a no-passing zone before turning on to state Route 2.

Police said Brown ultimately stopped at the intersection of routes 2 and 164, where police charged her with reckless driving and engaging an officer in pursuit.

Released on a $2,500 bond, she is due Sept. 18 in New London Superior Court.
