Norwich man charged with damaging multiple downtown buildings
Norwich — Police arrested a 25-year man on multiple charges for allegedly smashing windows at four downtown businesses Wednesday, less than a month after he pleaded guilty and received a suspended sentence for similar crimes, according to police and court records.
Wendel Boateng-Moses, 25, of 2 Church St. was charged at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Walgreen’s pharmacy on West Main Street and charged with four counts of second-degree criminal mischief and one count each of interfering with police and breach of peace. He was arraigned Wednesday and held on a court-ordered $10,000 bond.
Police said Boateng-Moses allegedly smashed windows at Foundry 66 at 66 Franklin St., the Chestnut Street Playhouse at 35 Chestnut St., Fashion 101 at 235 Main St. and at a vacant building at 206 Main St. Police said Boateng-Moses also was causing a disturbance at Walgreens when he was arrested.
In May, Boateng-Moses pleaded guilty in Norwich Superior Court to one charge of third-degree assault and second-degree criminal mischief stemming from a May 9 arrest in Norwich for damaging windows at the Foundry 66 building, the Sayet and Seder law firm building at 126 Main St. and a door at the Harp & Dragon Irish Pub at 130 Main St.
Boateng-Moses was given a six-month suspended sentence and one year probation on the May assault charge and a one-year suspended sentence and two years of probation on the criminal mischief charge.
In 2012, he was arrested by state police on a charge of third-degree assault and was given a one-year suspended sentence and one year of probation in Meriden Superior Court.
