New London police investigate reports of gunfire on Vauxhall Street

New London — City police are investigating reports of gunfire late Friday in the area of Vauxhall and Briggs streets.
Police said officers responded at 11:29 p.m. to reports of five to six gun shots fired in the area. Witnesses reported someone shooting out of a vehicle that was driving from Vauxhall Street onto Briggs Street and towards Interstate 95.
The vehicle was described as a gray, four-door Honda or Mazda hatchback. Police said they recovered evidence near the intersection of where the shots originated. There were no reports of injuries.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
