New London — A man suffered multiple but non life-threatening stab wounds in a Monday night incident at 127 Hempstead St.

Police said that at 7:16 p.m. they received a call about a man who had been stabbed.

When police arrived, they found a man with multiple stab wounds lying in the hallway of the apartment complex. The man was transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. Police said they collected evidence, conducted interviews and developed information about the suspect.

Police said that while the victim’s injuries are serious they were determined to be non-life threatening. Police, who are continuing to investigate, said the stabbing does not appear to be a random act.
