Mystic — Police say a vehicle struck two pedestrians as they crossed Route 27 near Latitude 41 Restaurant on Saturday night, leaving both with life-threatening injuries.

Stonington police Capt. Todd Olson said the two pedestrians were transported to the hospital after the incident, which occurred about 8:10 p.m.

Police did not release details of the status of the pedestrians or driver, but noted the driver declined treatment. No other injuries were reported.

As of 8:45 p.m. an accident reconstruction team was en route to the scene, where Olson said they would work with officers from Stonington, Ledyard and Groton Town police to investigate.

“They’ll come together and put this scene back together and try to figure out what happened,” Olson said.
