Waterford — A two-vehicle accident injured a police officer, took down a pole and closed a section of Old Norwich Road on Friday afternoon.

The accident, which occurred about 4:22 p.m. in the Quaker Hill neighborhood between Fitzgerald Avenue and Porter Street, involved two vehicles, one of which was a police car, town police said. The accident involved minor injuries but an officer was transported from the scene.

The pole that toppled was a support pole, police said, and there was no loss of cable or electrical services.

The road remained closed as of 7:40 p.m., and the investigation was continuing.
