Mystic — Police on Tuesday said an unoccupied vehicle that was not left in park wound up in the Mystic River.

Police and fire personnel responded to reports that a car was in the river in the area near Pearl Street and Seahorse Lane about 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Groton Town police Lt. Brian Dawson said no one was in the vehicle when it rolled from an embankment into the water. He said the vehicle was not placed in park. No one was injured and the incident remains under investigation.
