Box truck wedged under Waterford bridge for an hour Friday
Waterford — A box truck was wedged for an hour Friday morning under a bridge at Gardiners Wood Road, an Amtrak spokesman said.
The incident was reported at 9:42 a.m. and caused no reported delays of Amtrak trains, said the spokesman, Jason Abrams.
The driver of the 12-foot, 2-inch truck, which belongs to J. Fox Express LLC from Danbury and was carrying a container marked with the Jordan's Furniture logo, said he didn't see the bridge's 11-foot, 6-inch height requirement, according to the report provided by Amtrak. He was delivering furniture for Jordan's.
"The bridge tore open the top of his truck and caused heavy damage," the report said. The truck had to be pulled out by a wrecker.
Neither the driver nor the passenger, who was there to help with deliveries, were injured, according to Amtrak.
The driver, identified as Evandro Zambeli-Silva, 31, of Bethel, was cited for violating height requirement for a bridge, according to the report.
