New London — A man was taken to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the leg early Monday night.

City police said they responded to an apartment at 92 Truman St. for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, police said officers found a male gunshot victim and a female assault victim. Both victims were taken to the hospital for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The scene was secured, a perimeter established, and a canvas of the area conducted. Police said the incident does not appear to be a random act.

Members of the Investigative Services Division responded and collected evidence. The investigation continues.
