    New London police make arrest in Dec. 19 bank robbery

    New London — Police arrested a homeless man on robbery, burglary and other charges Tuesday in connection with a Dec. 19 bank robbery of the Chelsea Groton Bank on Montauk Avenue and a second unrelated incident at a residence, New London police said.

    Luis Galan, 38, of no certain address was charged at 1:38 p.m. Tuesday with second-degree robbery and fifth-degree larceny in connection with the bank robbery. He was arraigned Tuesday in New London Superior Court and held on a $75,000 court-set cash-surety bond on those charges.

    Galan also was charged with third-degree burglary, attempted third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal trespass for an alleged incident that occurred at a Montauk Avenue residence just prior to his warrant arrest, New London police said. He was arraigned Tuesday and was held on a court-set bond of $25,000 for those charges.
