Norwich police investigating hit-and-run accident that left pedestrian seriously injured

Norwich — City police are investigating a Sunday evening accident in which a car fled the scene after striking a pedestrian in the area of 281 Norwich Ave.

The victim had "several broken bones, including a serious leg injury," police said in a late Tuesday news release.

Police said that after the accident, which occurred at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, the car traveled in an "unknown direction, but most likely southbound on Norwich Avenue towards Greenville."

Police said the victim was not able to provide details regarding the vehicle. Police said they do not have a description of the vehicle or possible damaged areas due to a lack of witness information.

People who witnessed the accident or have information about the vehicle are asked to call Officer Ben Sawaryn at (860) 886-5561, ext. 3561, and reference case number 20-8611-AC.
