New London investigates possible home address painting scam

New London — City officials are investigating what appears to be a scam from a company offering to paint curbs with home addresses.

Mayor Michael Passero said residents in the south end of the city have been receiving notices attached to their doors from a company identified as Connecticut Curb Appeal LLC offering a “reflective home address” to be painted on the curb in front of their homes.

The notice indicates that the work will be done April 9 with a charge to the homeowner of $25 for painting the home address, plus another $5 for a “Yankees” or “Red Sox” logo included.

“Please be advised that the City of New London has not approved any permits or authorized any vendor, company or individuals to paint, mark or alter any city owned curbing in the city of New London,” Passero said. “The New London Police Department has been advised of this issue and residents should not provide any funding or authorization for any marking of city curbs.”

Any resident approached by this or any similar company is asked to call police immediately at (860) 447-5269.
