Police: No criminal aspect to infant death in Jewett City

Griswold — Connecticut State Police and detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad are investigating the death of a 2½-month-old boy but confirmed there is no criminal aspect to the investigation.

State police said the boy went into cardiac arrest about 2:49 a.m. Wednesday inside a home on North Main Street in Jewett City.

State police at Troop E Montville responded to the scene and immediately began lifesaving measures on the baby, who was taken to Backus Hospital in Norwich for further treatment. He later was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
