Old Lyme man seriously injured in three-car accident Tuesday

On Wednesday, Connecticut State Police detailed a serious accident that occurred Tuesday involving three cars in Old Lyme.

Jerome Srogi of Old Lyme suffered what police suspected was a serious injury due to a collision at a Town Woods Road and Boston Post Road intersection.

Michael Mica of Old Lyme, who was not injured, was at a stop facing north on Boston Post Road at the intersection, a news release said. Karen Ursini of Essex was traveling south on Boston Post Road toward Town Woods Road. Srogi “began to pull out of Town Woods Road on to Boston Post Road to go north in front of” Ursini, according to the release.

Ursini “was unable to avoid colliding with the driver’s side” of Srogi’s car, the release said. Srogi then slid into the northbound lane and collided with Mica, at which point Srogi had to be extricated from his car. He was transported to Middlesex Hospital in Westbrook for treatment.

State police did not respond to a request for more information Wednesday evening.
