Standoff in Norwich ends without injury
Norwich — A standoff between police and a reportedly suicidal man armed with a knife ended without injury on Monday afternoon.
The unidentified man had barricaded himself inside a home on New London Turnpike following what police described as a domestic disturbance. Police were called to 527 New London Turnpike at about 12:51 p.m. and closed a portion of the road in front of the home.
Numerous police officers responded and the man was eventually taken for an evaluation to The William W. Backus Hospital. The road was reopened at about 5 p.m.
