Groton — State Police have identified a man who died after suffering a gunshot wound at the Groton-New London airport earlier this week.

Keith Bayer, 43, suffered a single gunshot wound at the airport on Oct. 19, according to Troop E. Police did not release his hometown.

Bayer was taken by Lifestar to Hartford Hospital where he died Wednesday, according to state police.

In a press release, police said there "was no criminal aspect of the incident" but did not say whether the gunshot wound was self inflicted or where on the body Bayer was shot. Autopsy results from the Connecticut Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner were not yet available.
