    Man charged in armed robbery of Groton convenience store

    Groton — Groton Town Police on Wednesday arrested a suspect in a Jan. 23 armed robbery at Henny Penny at 1270 Gold Star Highway in Groton.

    Corby P. Stedman, 26, of 48 Boombridge Road, North Stonington, faces charges of first-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny.

    At 12:13 a.m. on Jan. 23, Stedman allegedly entered the business, brandished a firearm and demanded the store clerk open the cash register. He left with an undetermined amount of cash. Stedman turned himself in to police on Wednesday morning. Police held an active warrant for his arrest.

    Held in lieu of a $250,000 court set bond, Stedman was due to appear Wednesday in New London Superior Court.
