Motorcyclist dies in crash at Hopeville Pond State Park in Griswold
A motorcyclist hit a fixed object in Hopeville Pond State Park on Thursday and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said in a news release that DEEP Environmental Conservation Police responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident in the park, along with state police's Collision Analysis Reconstruction Services unit.
State police said troopers from Troop E in Montville responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident at 929 Hopeville Road in Griswold around 2:16 p.m., and troopers determined it was a single-vehicle accident with serious injuries.
Hopeville Pond State Park is closed while DEEP and the CARS unit investigate.
No other information was immediately available.
