    New London police investigate Sunday afternoon carjacking

    New London — Police said a woman whose car was struck from behind on Bank Street on Sunday afternoon, then had her own car stolen at gunpoint when she got out to check the damage. 

    Police said that about 1 p.m., the woman was driving on Bank Street when her car was struck from behind by another car near the intersection of Summer Street.

     “The victim reported as they got out of the vehicle to check for damage, a second person in the other vehicle got out with a gun, pointed it at her and stole her vehicle,” Capt. Matt Galante wrote in a release. “The suspect was described as a light skin male.”

    The stolen car is a silver 2018 Infinity Q60 with a Connecticut registration of 4AFSE4. Anyone with information about the incident can call the NLPD at (860) 447-5269 extension 0.
