    Motorcyclist taken to hospital after striking car in Stonington

    Stonington — Police said a motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries after striking a car at the intersection of Pequot Trail and North Main Street just before 10 p.m. Sunday.

    Police Capt. Todd Olson said the motorcyclist suffered head and knee injuries and was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

    Olson said the driver of the car was traveling west on Pequot Trail and taking a left onto North Main Street, and the motorcyclist was traveling east on Pequot Trail and hit the side of the car. The driver of the car was not injured.

    Olson said Life Star helicopter was initially called, but emergency medical personnel canceled Life Star. 

    Police are investigating the accident.
