    State police seek robbery suspect in Essex

    Essex — State police in Westbrook are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in an armed robbery that took place at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Best Way Sunoco gas station at 1 Saybrook Road.

    Police said a man was seen on surveillance cameras entering the gas station about 7 p.m. and subsequently brandishing a handgun. He demanded money from the cash register and stole an unknown amount of cash before exiting the gas station.

    The man is described as Black, being possibly in his 50s, approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds and clean-shaven with a bald head. He was wearing a white T-shirt, denim jean shorts and white sneakers with blue tips. He was wearing a blue surgical mask and what appeared to be a yellow microfiber type fabric on his head.

    He was seen exiting the parking lot in what appears to be a dark-colored, possibly black, 1998-2002 Honda Accord four-door sedan.
