Body of man recovered from North Stonington lake
North Stonington -- Divers recovered the body of a 45-year-old male kayaker Sunday morning in Wyassup Lake, according to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
The man was pronounced dead at 11:40 a.m. and his body was taken to Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which will determine a cause of death. The DEEP said it was not releasing the man's name on Sunday to allow time for his family to be notified.
The DEEP said the kayaker went out on the lake around 10:30 p.m. Saturday and his kayak was found unmanned on Sunday. The DEEP's Environmental Conservation Police, state police, the regional dive team and the Taftville, Old Mystic, Pawcatuck and North Stonington fire departments all assisted with the search.
