14-year-old charged in threat reported by Griswold High School

Griswold — State police this week arrested a 14-year-old for allegedly posting a threatening message on the messaging app Snapchat.

The arrest came on Thursday following a police report about the threat by the administration at Griswold High School. State police at Troop E in Montville said the investigation revealed a 14-year-old had posted a threat with a photograph on Snapchat.

The male teen was issued a juvenile summons on charges of breach of peace and second-degree threatening. The teen is expected to appear in Waterford Juvenile Court on Jan. 12. Police do not reveal names of individuals under the age of 18.

The arrest came on the same day of a similar arrest for a social media post in Norwich. It is unclear is the two cases are linked. Norwich Public Schools and Norwich Free Academy closed on Friday due to a threat.
