Woman taken to hospital after fingers injured in table saw accident
Old Mystic — A 27-year-old woman was taken to the hospital Saturday evening after her fingers were injured in a table saw accident, Old Mystic Fire Department Chief Kenneth Richards said.
Richards said the woman was building a shelf for her home on a table saw in the basement, and two of her fingers were amputated, with the third barely attached by the skin.
The accident happened about 6:44 p.m. in the Deerfield Ridge subdivision in Old Mystic, he said.
Mystic River Ambulance transported the woman to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital along with L+M paramedics, he said. A call was made to L+M before transport to make sure the hospital had the proper staffing, and it was confirmed that a hand surgeon was in the hospital, so she was transported directly to L+M.
She was conscious and alert when transported to the hospital, Richards said.
Groton Town Police also responded to the accident, he said.
