Accident on Mohegan-Pequot Bridge sends two people to the hospital
Two people were taken to the hospital after a two-car, head-on collision on the Mohegan-Pequot Bridge about 8:20 p.m. Saturday, Mohegan Volunteer Fire Chief Corey Gaetano said.
The bridge carries Route 2A between Preston and Montville.
There were three people in the two vehicles, and one had to be extricated, Gaetano said. He said two people needed to be taken to the hospital for evaluation of moderate injuries but didn't have further information on the nature of the injuries.
Also responding were the Mohegan Tribal Fire Department and the Poquetanuck Fire Department.
The bridge was closed in both directions following the accident but later was reopened.
