Stonington -- A fire destroyed an unattached garage and badly damaged a section of a home at 53 Stanton Lane in Pawcatuck late Monday afternoon.

The Wequetequock fire department responded to the fire at 5:36 p.m and then called for assistance from other departments such as Pawcatuck, North Stonington, Quiambaug, Stonington Borough and Center Groton.

Wequetequock Fire Chief Ed Dennett said no one was home and there were no injuries. The fire, which was under control in about 45 minutes, also damaged a boat being stored in the yard. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

According to town assessment records, the home is owned by Ross Butterworth.
