    Stonington police identify elderly man struck and killed by plow truck

    Mystic -- Stonington police have identified the 91-year-old man who was struck and killed by a plow truck at the Stone Ridge retirement community on Friday morning as Chester D. Andrews, a Stone Ridge resident.

    Police also identified the driver of the truck as Justin Best, 27, of Naugatuck. The owner of the plow truck is Ultimate Professional Grounds Management of Wolcott.  

    Police said Friday that Andrews was struck at 7:43 a.m. He was taken by ambulance to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, where he was pronounced dead.

    A regional accident reconstruction team including officers from Groton Town, Groton City and Ledyard, as well as Stonington detectives and accident reconstruction personnel, are investigating the incident. Any charges would be filed after the investigation is complete.
