Teen injured in fall from cliffs at Gillette Castle State Park

East Haddam — A teen was injured when he fell from the cliffs at Gillette Castle State Park, according to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

DEEP's Environmental Conservation Police and the East Haddam, East Hampton and Chester fire departments responded to the park for a 17-year-old boy who fell from the cliffs, DEEP communications director Will Healey wrote in a news release late Monday. The park sits high on cliffs along the Connecticut River on the East Haddam and Lyme town border.

"The male was transported to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center with facial injuries and is in stable condition," Healey wrote. The teen's identity and town were not immediately released, nor was the time of the incident.

EnCon Police are investigating, Healey said.
