    Firefighters quickly extinguish Sunday afternoon fire at Norwich Holiday Inn

    Norwich — Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire that broke out around 2:52 p.m. Sunday at the Holiday Inn at 10 Lauren Blvd.

    The East Great Plain Volunteer Fire Department requested a second-alarm response for the fire, which was found in an outbuilding but did not spread into the main hotel building, according to a news release.

    Crews knocked down the main fire within minutes, and the fire was brought under control at 3:20 p.m., according to the release. No injuries were reported.

    Mohegan Tribal Fire Department FAST team, and the Norwich, Yantic, Laurel Hill and Taftville fire departments also responded, along with American Ambulance and Norwich Public Utilities, according to the release.

    The fire is under investigation by the Norwich Fire Marshal’s office.
