Celebrate 20 Years and Take Action Against Substance Abuse

The First Selectman's Task Force on Substance Abuse (FSTFSA) is celebrating its 20th year of making Clinton a healthier place for youth and wants residents to be a part of its success. The public is invited to the FSTFSA Meet & Greet on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 3:15 p.m. in the Town Hall Green Room to learn how to get involved in the group's successful efforts in reducing underage drinking and other risky behaviors in Clinton. The Task Force was recently awarded a Drug-Free Communities grant for strengthening the community and reducing youth substance abuse.

To take action, educate others, and make a difference for Clinton youth, FSTFSA needs residents-including local youth-to join its 30-plus member group.

Task Force members have been designing community wide programs and strategies to build youth assets and decrease underage drinking for two decades and Clinton has significantly fewer youth who are using alcohol and other drugs. Strong partnerships with organizations in the community such as the Clinton Public Schools, Clinton Police, town government, the Park & Recreation Department, and religious organizations also help to achieve the group's vision.

The Oct. 13 Meet & Greet will be a chance for interested residents to hear from current members and learn about what they can do to make Clinton an even healthier, more vibrant community. For more information, email clintontaskforce@gmail.com.
