    Mystics 90, Lynx 78

    Kristi Toliver had 19 points, including five 3-pointers, and Washington' backups scored 58 points to help the Mystics overcome an 18-point deficit and beat Minnesota on Sunday.

    Rookie Myisha Hines-Allen had season highs of 15 points and 13 rebounds, and fellow reserves Natasha Cloud and Ariel Atkins scored 14 points apiece for the Mystics (4-0). Shatori Walker-Kimbrough added nine points, on 4-of-4 shooting, in five minutes off the bench.

    Back-to-back baskets by Sylvia Fowles gave the Lynx (2-2) a 24-6 lead before Toliver hit her first 3 late in the first quarter that ignited Washington, which scored 35 second-quarter points take a 46-39 lead into the break. Maya Moore scored 10 of 18 points in the third quarter and Minnesota led 68-66 going into the fourth.

    Toliver hit back-to-back 3s to give the Mystics a 74-73 lead with six minutes to go and found Atkins for 3 that pushed the lead into double figures with 2:15 remaining.

    Fowles had 17 points, on 8-of-8 shooting, and eight rebounds for the defending champion Lynx. Minnesota swept the Mystics last year in the league semifinals.

    Sparks 80, Mercury 72

    Chelsea Gray had 23 points and nine assists and Nneka Ogwumike scored 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting to help Los Angeles beat Phoenix.

    Odyssey Sims added 14 points, and Candace Parker had 10 in her season debut after missing the first three games with a back injury.

    Gray made a layup to give the Sparks (3-1) a 57-47 lead with 6:29 left in the third quarter, but they missed their next eight field-goal attempts before Odyssey Sims hit a 3-pointer to make it 67-65 with 8:55 to play. L.A. led the rest of the way.

    Sancho Lyttle hit a jumper to pull Phoenix within two points nearly 90 seconds later, but the Sparks answered with an 11-4 spurt — pushing their lead to 80-71 on Gray's fadeaway jumper in the lane with 1:46 left.

    Phoenix (2-2) committed 10 of its 18 turnovers, and shot 3 of 9 from the field, while being outscored 18-7 in the fourth quarter.

    Sancho Lyttle, who had 18 combined points in the first three games of the season, scored 20 for the Mercury.

    Storm 105, Aces 98

    Breanna Stewart had 23 points and nine rebounds, Jewell Loyd added 20 and nine assists and Seattle beat Las Vegas in the Aces' first game at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

    Natasha Howard added 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis had 13 and Sue Bird 10 for the Storm (3-1). Seattle shot 52 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from behind the arc, where Mosqueda-Lewis hit 3 of 3.

    Loyd and Alysha Clark hit back-to-back 3-pointers and Breanna Stewart scored seven consecutive points before a layup by Loyd capped a 15-0 run that gave Seattle a 23-14 lead late in the first quarter. After Nia Coffey's jumper gave the Aces a 14-8 lead about four minutes in, they went 0 for 5 from the field, 0 for 2 from the free-throw line and committed three turnovers over the next 4 1/2 minutes.

    Sue Bird hit a 3 just before the buzzer that made it 53-35 at the break and her jumper early in the second half gave Seattle its biggest lead at 59-40. Las Vegas answered with a 22-9 run, capped by Coffey's 3-pointer, to trim its deficit to 98-94 with 1:39 to play, but Bird answered with a 3 and the Aces got no closer.

    A'ja Wilson, the first overall pick this year, led Las Vegas with a season-high 27 points. Coffey, the fifth pick in 2017, scored a career-high 23. McBride, making her season debut after finishing her season in the Turkish Women's Basketball League, had 21 points.
