    Careers in real estate

With continued low interest rates, the spring housing market is moving at lightning speed and now is an excellent time to be in real estate. Pent up demand, willing sellers and a long list of buyers are not the only reason why now is a good time to launch a career in real estate. The outlook for 2021 remains strong through 2021 as well.

With fewer agents in the marketplace than a decade ago, many of who need help and may be willing to mentor new agents, people coming into the business today stand a good chance of finding themselves in very successful real estate careers down the road. And why not get your real estate license as long as you have extra time on your hands!

Connecticut requires real estate professionals to be licensed and complete pre-licensing instruction before they can actually sell property. Applicants for licenses also must be at least 18 years of age.

In addition to the licensing requirements, one thing anyone entering real estate needs to realize is that before you can become successful, you are going to have to be willing to work for little return in the early days. It is not unusual for nearly half of those who enter the business to leave it before they've completed their first year. That's because earnings are based on sales commissions and those could take as long as six months or more in some cases before they happen. Financially, some people just cannot do it.

If you're wondering at this point whether or not you have what it takes to make it in the real estate profession, take heart. According to the top brokers and agents in the area, there is no one stereotype that determines success. Success will depend only on how motivated you are to go out and find buyer and seller prospects.

Because real estate is a people-to-people business, strong people skills are important. A career in real estate can be very rewarding both personally and financially and provides the flexibility and freedom for you to set your own pace.
