For sale in Oakdale, a three-bedroom split level
By Gretchen A. Peck
The three-bedroom split-level home at 11 Ortega Drive in Oakdale is currently for sale, with an asking price of $399,000. Jennifer Erno, a sales associate with Randall Realtors-Compass in Norwich, is the listing agent.
The 1,716-square-foot house was built in 1986 on a 1.10-acre lot.
“It is in pristine condition,” Erno described the single-family home to Welcome Home.
“It’s a split-level, so the lower level has a living and family room, with a full bath and a two-car garage,” Erno said. “The next level has a dining room and kitchen, and the upper level has three bedrooms and a full bath.”
The owners have made some improvements to the home in recent years.
“The kitchen is really impressive, with beautiful cabinets, double ovens, a six-burner gas stove with a pot filler, a large island, and even a built-in television that will convey with the sale,” Erno said.
Informal bar seating is available at the island, and the space is large enough to accommodate a small breakfast table, as well.
“The interiors have been completely redone over the past three years,” Erno pointed out. “The hardwood floors are freshly finished.”
Buyers browsing the MLS photos of the property online may notice one photo of a room with built-in shelving and a workstation. That’s the third bedroom, which would be a great space for a teen family member. Or, it could ideally serve as a home office.
“Both bathrooms are completely redone, as well,” Erno remarked on some additional improvements and the design finishes the homeowners chose.
“The bath in the lower level has a sink that was made out of stone from the Colorado River.”
There is some flexibility in the floor plan, courtesy of an unfinished basement space. Should the buyer finish that area, adding more usable square footage, they would be able to leverage it for any number of intentions—perhaps a rec room or a home gym/exercise room.
For outdoor seating and dining furnishings, the house is appended with a backyard deck that steps down to the level lawn. A shed sits on a pebbled pad, tucked away in the yard, with ample space for landscaping and gardening tools.
Living in southeastern Connecticut affords some location advantages. It’s easy to get to area beaches, regional train transportation, arts and entertainment destinations and quite a few parks. The Fair Oaks Conservation Center, Camp Oakdale picnic pavilions and Montville’s Community Center are all a short distance from 11 Ortega Drive. Hartford, New Haven, Providence, Boston and New York City are all within driving distance.
“The property is centrally located and convenient to the Mohegan Sun casino, [General Dynamics]/Electric Boat, Pfizer, and the subbase,” Erno said. “It is in a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood.”
