    Sound Advice 12-08-23

A Welcome Home reader asked about public open houses, and whether they’re necessary to selling a home in the current market. Coldwell Banker Realtor Jacqueline Hoyt explains how open houses can be useful to both buyers and sellers:

“The best way to sell a home is to have a Realtor market it on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), providing all the information a buyer needs to make an informed decision about whether to go see it in person. Seeing a house online is always different than seeing it in person. Open houses are great for buyers who’d like to take a preliminary look at a property. They’re also a way for the seller and listing agent to get first-hand feedback about the home from potential buyers and their agents. However, open houses are not required. It’s up to the seller and their agent to determine the best marketing plan for the property.”
