Sound Advice 03-01-24
If you’ve watched the local real estate market over the past few years, you’ve likely noticed that properties in good condition have sellers asking for “highest and best offers” by a certain date and time. Berkshire Hathaway Broker Henri Gourd explains the selling strategy:
“Highest and best offers are an indication of the strong housing market, with more buyers competing for a limited number of homes. If the Fed reduces its benchmark rate as expected this year, it will put downward pressure on mortgage rates, which will in turn allow even more buyers to compete for homes. In this rate environment, I expect we will continue to see sellers looking for highest and best offers until the housing inventory reaches equilibrium with buyer demand.”
