    Local roundup: East Lyme wins opener in Little League state tournament

    East Lyme — East Lyme rolled to a 10-1 victory over Manchester in its opening game of the Connecticut Little League (10-12) baseball tournament on Wednesday night.

    Greyson Biggs and Bradley Ament had two hits each for East Lyme and Biggs also had a strong defensive performance at shortstop.

    East Lyme moves into the winners’ bracket final on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. against Fairfield American. The winner of that game will advance to Saturday’s championship round.

    State LL baseball (8-10)

    • South Windsor defeated East Lyme 8-3 in the opening round of the Connecticut Little League (8-10) tournament in Fairfield. East Lyme will try to remain alive in the double-elimination tournament when it plays the loser of a first-round game between Avon and Hamden on Thursday at 5:45 p.m.

    • The Mystic Schooners lost to the North Shore Navigators 8-2 in a New England Collegiate Baseball League game on Tuesday night. Pawcatuck’s Kevin Ferrer (UConn) singled, tripled and scored a run for the Schooners (22-18).

    • DBI collected 27 hits in a 28-10 win over the Padres in an Eastern Connecticut Major League game on Tuesday night. Quinn Killoy was 5-for-6 and Sam Burtnick was 4-for-6 and Dom Morabito drove in four runs for DBI. Hendrick Khoury doubled and singled twice and Brandon Valentin homered for the Padres.
