    Analysis

Last week, Coast Guard introduced freshman wide receiver Amr Baadani, who caught five passes for 113 yards and a touchdown in his debut, a 17-10 loss against the University of New England. Baadani, from Fairfax, Virginia, is listed at 5-foot-7, 150 pounds and as head coach C.C. Grant said afterward, commenting on his speed, Baadani has “got a little scoot to him.” Baadani also had two kick returns for 46 yards and leads the Bears in all-purpose yards after Week 1 with 159. “He’s a great kid and you rarely ever see the kid when he’s not smiling,” Grant said. “He’s going to cause guys to get stressed a little bit.” ... Against Curry, Coast Guard will try to break an eight game losing streak. The Bears trailed 17-0 against UNE, turning the ball over on the first series of both halves. “I think all the guys are itching to get the bitter taste out of our mouth,” Coast Guard quarterback Joey Armentrout said. “Leaving the end of the season last year with a loss and starting it with a loss ... that’s what good teams are able to do, bounce back and shake it off.” Grant said Saturday that, especially with a young team, he expects a big improvement from Week 1 to Week 2. “It’s all on tape and you actually get to look and see it,” Grant said. “You’ll see mistakes. You can learn a lot just from watching. On Monday, you watch the film and then you’re out on the field and it’s on to Curry.” ... Curry lost its season-opening game to MIT 35-20, with MIT outgaining the Colonels on the ground 228-54. ... Curry beat Coast Guard 21-18 last season with the game turning on a 20-yard interception return by Cameron Cruz in the fourth quarter. ... Curry junior linebacker Michael Sims, who set up a touchdown last week with a blocked punt, is a 2020 Griswold High School grad.
