    Analysis

Coast Guard coach C.C. Grant believes that the first four games of the team’s schedule has prepared it to begin play in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference against Norwich. “I thought about it a little bit,” Grant said. “We’ve played (some) pretty good teams. Curry was better (than last year), Nichols was better, Anna Maria. It’s basically prepping us at least for the first part of the (NEWMAC) schedule.” ... The Bears are coming off an impressive 66-28 win over Anna Maria that featured one of the best single-game performances in program history by McMillion. The senior rushed for 285 yards on 43 carries (both single-game records) and scored five touchdowns. He also had five receptions for 55 yards to finish with 340 all-purpose yards. McMillion later received the prestigious Gold Helmet Division II/III award by the New England Football Writers’ Association. ... Norwich is coming off a 26-13 loss to Endicott. ... In last season’s game at Coast Guard, Norwich won 24-21, getting the eventual game-winning touchdown with 7 minutes remaining on a 1-yard run from Justin Bryant. Theal, who returns at quarterback, was 16-for-33 for 274 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions in the victory. Then-Coast Guard freshman Ethan Lasher had an 80-yard interception return for a touchdown, one of two picks in the game, and forced a fumble.
