Montville – No successful team in any sport has ever won anything of value without one: the player willing to sacrifice and do the menial things that make everybody else better.

That’s been Cedrick Similien at St. Bernard, a program whose success has increased consistently over his three years. Now as a senior, Similien sat down with GameDay recently to talk about being the glue guy on a very talented team in pursuit of the school’s first state basketball title in 30 years.

Similien and the Saints can exact some revenge on Hand, the team that eliminated them from last season’s state Division III semifinals, in the 2022 Day Holiday Classic on Monday at Mohegan Sun Arena.

The second Day Holiday Classic will feature East Catholic vs. Notre Dame of West Haven at 4 p.m. in a rematch of last season’s CIAC Div. I final. St. Bernard and Hand follow at 6 p.m. before New London renews its rivalry with Norwich Free Academy at 8.
