    Local roundup: East Lyme girls surprise Bacon Academy 45-41

    East Lyme — Izzy Pazzaglia scored a game-high 27 points, including the go-ahead free throw with 24.4 seconds remaining, as East Lyme topped Bacon Academy 45-41 in a girls’ basketball game on Tuesday night.

    Ava Roach scored added points for the Vikings (5-9), who lost 52-24 at Bacon on Dec. 13 in the season opener for both teams.

    Emily Ferrigno had 13 points for the Bobcats (14-2) and Marissa Nudd scored 12.

    In other games:

    • Gabby Dimock had 22 points to pace Fitch past Waterford 65-37. Mariette El Khoury scored 14 and Dre’Ana Singleton 12 for the Falcons (10-5). Lucy Walker had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Lancers (5-10) and Jennie Macca Barnes added eight points and seven rebounds.

    • Naiya Stone-McClellan scored 10 of her 14 points in the second half as Norwich Free Academy beat Killingly 50-43. Emily Orcutt added 13 points and Nevaeh Yorke 11 for NFA (7-9). Ariahna Headen scored 16 for Killingly (9-4).

    • Julianna Gallow had 14 points in Plainfield’s 46-42 win over St. Bernard. Morgan Yonush had 11 points and Hannah Irons scored 10 for Plainfield (8-8). Angelica Tompkins had 34 points, seven rebounds and four blocks for the Saints (8-6) and Morghan Kuhn added 13 rebounds.

    • Aniya Jenkins had 16 points in Windham’s 47-37 win over Wheeler. Marissa Perkins had 18 points and nine rebounds for Wheeler (3-10).

    H.S. boys’ basketball

    • Brandon Osso scored eight points as East Lyme edged Waterford 34-32. John Bureau and Mikey Timpano added six points apice for the Vikings (5-9). Nate Hynes had eight points and six rebounds, Logan Peabody scored eight and Juan Morel Jr. had 13 rebounds for the Lancers (5-11).

    • Wyatt Elliott had 12 points, 11 rebounds and four assists as Wheeler beat Plainfield 47-37. Zane Brewer had 12 points, 11 rebounds and two steals for the Lions (10-4) and Keith Zardies added 12 points and four steals.

    • Jeff Souvenance had 14 points, nine rebounds and two blocks as Griswold downed Tourtellotte 71-47. Carmelo Curtis and Christian Russell both scored 14 for Griswold (13-2) and Michael Strain added 10 rebounds. Josh Carlson scored 14 for the Tigers (3-12).

    • Luke Grimord had 17 points for Bacon Academy in its 58-52 win over Putnam. Elijah Black had 15 points and Keegan Appleby scored all eight of his points in the fourth quarter for the Bobcats (7-8). Noah Rudman scored 26 for the Clippers (5-9).

    • Luke Lowry had 20 points as Stonington beat Montville 54-49. Robbie Scavello had 12 points, eight rebounds and three steals for the Bears (7-8) and Aaron LoPresto added five rebounds, five assists and two steals. Lebron Maurice scored 21 points and Anthony Barbuto 14 for Montville (5-7).

    • Amare Marshall had 17 points in St. Bernard’s 63-35 win over Woodstock Academy. Alexander Johnson scored 11 for the Saints (12-2).

    H.S. riflery

    • Elora Loos fired a 190 out of 200 to pace unbeaten Grasso Tech to an 853-772 win over Wilcox Tech. Gavin Jameson shot a 177, Kanani Brown 166, Aaron Trotochaud 166 and Noah Whipple 162 for the Eagles (5-0).

    Men’s basketball

    • St. Thomas More defeated NBA Academy-Africa 89-71 in an exhibition game where all money collected was to benefit the Tom Konchalski Foundation. Louie Semona scored 23 ponits to lead the Chancellors while Abdur De Leon added 17 and Justin Menard finished with 15.

    Men’s hockey

    • Seth Stadheim had two goals and two assists as Connecticut College thumped Salem State 8-2. Brett Moccia had a goal and three assists and Eric Fournier had three assists for the Camels (3-15).

    Women’s hockey

    • Kelly Matthews scored twice for Conn College in its 4-1 win over Nichols. Morgan Bronstein and Claire Sammons both scored for the Camels (9-7) and Eun-Bee Huh added 18 saves.

    H.S. gymnastics

    • NFA’s Trinity Ambruso won all four events but Stonington beat the Wildcats 133.65-127.7 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference meet on Monday night. Ambruso won all-around with a score of 36.9. She won the vault (8.9), bars (9.1), beam (9.8) and tied for first with Lydia Laskey of Stonington in floor exercise (9.1).

    Laskey was second in all-around (35.45) for the Bears (10-5, 4-3) as well as coming in second on bars and beam. Stonington’s Shay Burnside was second in vault and floor and teammate Mary Lord was third in each event. Sarah Fedeli of NFA (3-3, 1-3) tied for third in floor exercise.
